sorting / formula
I need a formula that will sort/rearrange names to match another column. for
example Column A has 50 names (sorted aphabetically) and Column B has 30 names (sorted aphabetically). Is there any formula that i can put in column C which will make the names in column b sort to match the names in column A? Essentially some rows in column c will be blank as there are 20 names missing. Any help is highly appreciated. |

In excel look up the help on "sort a range". look at sub heading "use your own data as the sort order". regards Paul On Oct 16, 3:40*pm, clueless wrote: I need a formula that will sort/rearrange names to match another column. *for example Column A has 50 names (sorted aphabetically) and Column B has 30 names (sorted aphabetically). *Is there any formula that i can put in column C which will make the names in column b sort to match the names in column A? * Essentially some rows in column c will be blank as there are 20 names missing.
