view raw sheet code

Hi all.
We're using a sql database program which the public can view water rights
ownership on.
On the internal side we update our records, and then update the database.
We've determined that we can format an Excel worksheet to match the layout
of the ownership page on the database.
We've also noticed that there are certain characters which the database will
not accept, and are working through cleaning up the worksheet so it can be a
direct copy/paste in to the database.
My question is:
Where is the tool which makes the data on excel show up as "raw" data?
I remember a long time ago seeing something like this, but with office 2007,
cannot locate it.
What I want to do is to remove all formatting from the data on the excel
sheet, to ensure that the "data dump" into the database will take.

Thank you.
(I did look around to see if there was a better place to post this and could
not find anything.)
SteveB.
