Data Validation List Problem

Dear Sir,

I am using Excel 2003, I made one Data Validation List, followed by

Data Validation List , in the Source Field I put the formula

=List

(I have one list of Categories in sheet3, and I named the list as
List.)

it is working fine, but there is no validation, its showing the list,
but there is no validation, I can type any thing in the data
validation cell. which is not required.

If I give the range in the Source field in the data validation dialog
box, then it is working correctly, if I put the formula which is
=list, then it is not working.

I hope that you understand my problem, or if you have any

Please give me any suggession.

Regards.

Data Validation List Problem

Select the cell with the validation, then select Data Validation. On the
Error Alert tab, make sure there is a check next to 'Show error alert after
invalid data is entered'.

Hope this helps,

Hutch

Data Validation List Problem

If there is a blank cell in the named range, any entry will be allowed
in the cells with data validation.

To prevent this, in the data validation dialog box, remove the check
mark from 'Ignore Blank'

Or, to avoid blank cells at the end of the range, you can use a dynamic
range, as described he
