How do I create mathematical links from workbook to workbook?

I have 3 workbooks. I want to add numbers from workbook 1 and workbook 2 into
a total in workbook 3. Is there a way to do this? If so, how?

Thanks. However I am getting an invalid cell error. I am typing in the
numbers/letters from the cells I want to add using the name of the books and
sheets as you indicate below. If the cells I'm trying to add and place in
another workbook are part of a column that contains an addition function,
would that matter? Help!
