I would like a way to be able to scan a bar code into a cell then have the
cursor move automatically to the next cell to the right, or go to beginning
of next row, without having to press the "enter" or "tab" keys. I am using
Excel 2003

how would excel know you were finished scanning? even if there were a
special bar at the end of every barcode, excel could not "read" the
cell until you hit enter or tab. as long as the cell is "open",
nothing can be done with it. therefore excel has to have some way of
figuring out that you're finished with the cell. even if the barcode
was always a certain # of characters, excel can't read it until you're
finished with it. the only way to finish filling the cell is to hit
enter or tab..........
........AFAIK

You should be able to download and print barcode configurations from your
scanner manufacturer to program the gun to read the barcode and enter the
info in the field and then there should be one to tell the program to enter.
You will have to look on your vendors website.....I have seen it done....
