Simplifying Excel Recorded Macro Code

I Want to learn to simplify to the core my Excel Recorded Macro Code.
For instance, in the tasks required from a raw data import :

.. Whole Worksheet Unmerge Cells
.. Delete useless Headers Rows
.. Replace Column Headers with meaningfull Titles
.. Delete whole columns that do not have Headers
.. Delete whole rows if no data in column Y
.. Detect and Copy to a new worksheet, the Two Total Rows at the bottom
of report,
Rows # location unknown, detected by Cell content of Column B = to
"Phase Totals" or "Job Totals"
.. Reset all rows height to 12
.. Reset Cost content format of columns W, X, with 1000s separator (,)
and no decimals.
.. Flag date column Z for invalid date content
.. Save the cleaned up version to a new workbook

That would be a major leap.
Thank you for your help.

Celeste.

It's a lot easier to simplify code if it's shown. Please post it and I'm
sure someone can help.
