excel 2007, problem with msgbox and custom help file
Has anyone out there ever used an excel 2007 MsgBox to display a
custom help file? For many years I've used an excel MsgBox with a Help button to display my help file at a given context id. Excel 2007 seems to ignore the last two arguments of the MsgBox call, and so does not display my help file. On a userform I use Stephen Bullen's ShowHelp routine to show my help file, and that works fine in excel 2007. I hope I don't have to create my own Msgbox function with a userform. Thanks, Brian Murphy |

Can you post a sample code so that we can try it?

The code is just a generic call of the MsgBox function. Either in a
macro or in the immediate window, the result is the same either way. Here's a sample that works in excel 2003, but in excel 2007 it displays some sort of Excel help file instead of the supplied help file. msgbox "test",vbMsgBoxHelpButton,"","C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office \OFFICE11\CGMIMP32.HLP",0 Thanks, Brian On Aug 29, 3:18 am, "Bob Phillips" wrote: Can you post a sample code so that we can try it? -- HTH Bob (there's no email, no snail mail, but somewhere should be gmail in my addy) wrote in message oups.com... Somehow my first reply never showed up in the posting list. Strange.
Here is a sample that works in excel 2003, but in excel 2007 is causes what looks like a default excel help window to appear. msgbox "prompt",vbMsgBoxHelpButton,"title","c:\progra m files\winzip \winzip.hlp",101 Brian On Aug 29, 3:18 am, "Bob Phillips" wrote: Can you post a sample code so that we can try it? -- HTH Bob (there's no email, no snail mail, but somewhere should be gmail in my addy) wrote in message oups.com... FWIW, I can replicate Brian's problem. I think I recall reading that it is a
feature/known issue with Office 2007. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Tutorials and Custom Solutions Peltier Technical Services, Inc. - http://PeltierTech.com _______ wrote in message ps.com...
