Can you change scanned input of an = to tab in excel?
I am scanning a customers PDF 417 bar codes into excel. The information in
the bar code is separated by equal signs. Is there a way to have excel treat these equal signs as tabs? |

You can do it manually selecting the column ctl H = in the top tab in the
bottom(typically 5 spaces). to do it automatically (don't forget to turn this off ) Tools-AutoCorrect Options replace = with tab (5 spaces) from this point on any = will be converted to the amount of spaces. Just remember it will do it on further sheets as well so turn off when done. -- -John Please rate when your question is answered to help us and others know what is helpful. More clearly stated what I want excel to do is to actually tab all
information following an equal sign to the next cell. Is this possible? Oh, that is totally different, won't do it automatically but if you select a
column that has the data in it, select Data-Text to Columns-Select Delimeted and hit next, check other and put an = in the box then click finish that will put each piece of data in a new column -- -John Please rate when your question is answered to help us and others know what is helpful.
