How to limit user's input with data validation

Hi all,

I use a data validation to limit input, but other data can also be typed in
the cell, what can I do to not allow user to input other data?

Are you using a named list on a worksheet?

Make sure that Data|Validation|Settings tab|Ignore blank is not checked.

If you included blanks at the end of the list to make it easier to update, maybe
using a dynamic range would be better.

See Debra Dalgleish's site for more information:

Hi there,

I have a named list called Fruits and have four itmes: blank line, apple,
orange,grape. I do a datavalidation on a cell let's call A1 with this named
list.
But other data can also typed in A1 that is not what I want it.

Why do you have the blank line in that range named Fruits? Can't you just name
the range with the 3 non-blank items?

Or make sure that option is unchecked.
