What is the best language to use to program applications with an excel use
presentation once 'visual basic for excel' support is discontinued? C++,
Visual Basic.net, something else?

I think VBA will be around for a very long time, but I would suspect its
replacement would be based on VSTO, which means you can use any NET language
(VB.NET, C++, C#) to write the code.
