Using VB instead of excel formulas

I have a spreadsheet that uses excel formulas to collect and count data for a
report. The formulas I have used make the project complex and makes for a
very large file.

Formula 1
=IF(F12C12,IF(F12=REPORT!A20,'SHEET 2'!E12,0),IF(C12=REPORT!A20,'SHEET
2'!E12,0))
This is to compare entry date between worksheet and report and select entry
if dates match
Formula 2
=COUNTIF(BL12:BL2000,"Y")
This is to count the number of matching entries
Formula 3
='SHEET 2'!BL7
This to transfer the result to the report
Formula 4
=Sum(AG5:AG2000)
This is to add the transferred figures
Formula 5
=AG2
This places that figure in the correct position

As you can see this is very cumbersome. Could anyone help me with some code
please?
I have asked before and it was suggested to me to either use Access or to
record a macro so I can view the resultant code. Unfortunately Access isn't
an option and I tried a macro and it only serves to confuse me as it seems to
change the coordinates of the cells.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated even if its just a matter of a
shorter way of writing excel formulas as at the moment I have a formula for
each row!

Thanks for your help in advance
