updates in wrong workbook
Thanks to you all I managed to complete the automation of reading xml files
every minute. I analyse the payload of the xml, which are errors and exceptions of a network and some applications (not excel error codes) and reflect this in charts and numbers. However when I determine that there is a "problem" (eg more errors than normal from one source) I need to slice and dice the data so I limit the time range and its scope (eg just one source). As I have all the charts and pivots in the original workbook my idea was to spawn an extra copy (in a seperate instance of excel so I can run 2 macros in parallel). The spawn is now there but the problem is that the automatic import continues (from the original sheet) but it us storeds in the XML list of the spawned version, this messes up my analisys but also does not update the sheet that is suppose to continuesly log the data. I tried renaming the spawned copy but as all the worksheets and XML tables have the original name it keeps on updating the (active) workbook. Any advise is welcome, as installing a 2nd PC for the analisys is an option but not the preferred one |
