Vista bug (?) regarding Excel 2007
A couple of days ago, I posted a question regarding a possible Excel 2007
bug. I've been able to re-produce the "bug". Think it's likely to a Vista bug rather than an Excel 2007 bug. For those of you interested: I ran across this "bug" having to build and adjust some Excel enterprise applications when I stumbled on following: - I setup Vista's Windows Explorer to show Thumbnail preview images. - Worked on 2003 legacy Excel files (incl. VBA projects), needing to backup regularly and re-open files/addins - Excel 2007 Trust Centre settings: Trust all VBA Projects, no special Trusted locations added to Trust Centre Having started up the Files/Addins from Vista's Windows Explorer (note: file thumbnail preview enabled) and closing the target files after development, the particular instance of Windows Explorer (from which I started up files/addins) hangs. It is completely locked down and killing the instance from Taskmanager causes me to restart the system. Note: if I *don't* restart the system, this "bug" is manifest ... In such case, Excel 2007 will start up they way I described in my Feb 15th post, ref: "Excel 2007 bug?". The "bug" is NOT manifest if the Thumbnail preview is disabled in Vista's Windows Explorer. -- Krgrds, Perry System: Vista/Office Ultimate VS2005/VSTO2005 SE |
