Is is possible to put some kind of setting, looping vba macro, etc
that would prevent data from being pasted into a hidden column?

A Worksheet_Change macro can be written to pick up on the pasting of
something to that column. What do you want to happen when something is
pasted into that column? What if the data pasted encompasses more than just
that one column? In that case, do you want action taken for just the data
pasted into that one column or should the entire pasting be addressed? HTH
