Changing pivot chart format
I have a pivot chart in which all the bars are the same color.
I would like to change the color of the bars based on my own criteria. Any suggestions on how to change the formats for the bars individually? thanx |

You can select the series, then the individual point (two single clicks),
then double click on the point to format it separately. You can also use macros similar to the last two in this article: http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/P...cle.asp?ID=390 Keep in mind that a pivot chart's formatting reverts back to its default when the pivot table is refreshed or repivoted. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Tutorials and Custom Solutions http://PeltierTech.com _______ "J.W. thanx....
is there any way to stop the default from changing the colors back after I've adjusted them? |

You could change the defaults in the color palette, which changes the
defaults for everything. Microsoft suggests recording a macro one time when you fix the pivot chart formatting, so you can rerun the macro next time. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Tutorials and Custom Solutions http://PeltierTech.com _______ "J.W. "..........change the defaults in the color palette, which changes the defaults for everything." I may use the macro method but curious about changing the color pallete method. I am adding two columns per month so I would have to re-record the macro each time if I use the maco method. How would I go about changing the defaults in the color palete? Thanx |

Tools menu Options Color tab. The bottom two rows are the default chart
colors. Note that if the pivot chart's layout reverts to a default layout, changing the colors may not help. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Tutorials and Custom Solutions http://PeltierTech.com _______ "J.W.
