Even More Data Table Problems
 

I decided to start a new thread since my recent thread may be ignored since
I responded to myself, prematurely, it now seems.

I received an EXCEL file from someone else. The data tables appeared to be
working and producing reasonable results. But I now realize that both the
row and column input variables are cells that are linked to computations and
or inputs, not inputs themselves. So my 1st question is: Can EXCEL
somehow vary the value of cells that are derived from inputs, rather than
being inputs themselves?

For example if the row input variable is equal to x+y, any value could be
gotten in an infinite variety of ways. And I would think that different
pairs of x and y could also affect the results cell in different ways, on
other words the results cell could be dependent on this x+y, but also on x
by itself.

If somehow you think that the data table can resolve all this, my next
question is as to whether you think it still can do this if x and y are on
other worksheets, as opposed to being contained within the same worksheet.

I now realize that the results cell that we want to find the variation of,
also uses other rows that are derived in other worksheets. It therefore
seems impossible that the results I'm seeing can be correct, though the
answers do seem reasonable?

I don't think anybody answered me, but I have figured out myself that what
was done in the file that I received was simply wrong. Logically, it would
make no sense that you could be allowed to vary an intermediate result
without varying input cells that drive it.
