how can i use indirect to replace the x - 2 in the criteria argument with a cell
reference?
can't seem to figure it out.

=SUMIF(U$22:U$527,"X - 2",P$22:P$527)

What is X then?


=SUMIF(U$22:U$527,Indirect("A" & x-2),P$22:P$527)

if x is a defined name. or if you want to refer to a cell for the value of x


=SUMIF(U$22:U$527,Indirect("A" & B3-2),P$22:P$527)

x - 2 is a code for a product and it resides in a cell, U1 in this case
other codes a
