Select the chart, hold down the shift key, and use the menu Edit / Copy Picture.

VBA code -

Worksheets("Sheet1").ChartObjects(1).Chart.Export _
FileName:="FileName.gif", FilterName:="GIF"

IIRC, you cannot export directly to BMP format - you need to use a graphics editor to convert the
GIF to BMP....

Or use Andy Pope's Graphics Exporter add-in:
