Default Joining Text from two Cells into One

If I have input "Jhon Doe" into cell A1 and "Jane Doe" into cell A2, how
can I get cell B1 to read

"Jhon Doe & Jane Doe"

If it were numbers I would write the following in B1, =A1+A2, but even
that would just add the two numbers together. And since it's text I'm
clueless. Any ideas?
