Autofilter rows and columns at the same time
 
Suggestion for programming into future Excel versions.

Autofilter is great and I have used it extensively since learning about it.

It would be even more useful if it could autofilter two directions at a
time, in other words if it could do rows and columns to really clean up data
being displayed.

Autofilter rows and columns at the same time
 
You may want to look at Data|Group and Outline|Group
after selecting some columns.

You'll get those same kind of outlining symbols.
