Programming Funk...Any help appreciated
Good morning all. I have an Excel spreadsheet with 2 worksheets. Th first work sheet (worksheet A) I have a list (c2:c284) of names. O the other worksheet (worksheet B) I have a dropdown box that include values from the list on worksheet A (data validation:lists). There ar 4 cells in worksheet B that have this dropdown box with the selection o names. Here is what I am trying to do...Whenever I select a name from any o the 4 cells in Worksheet B, I want to place the word \"Selected\" nex to the value within the list on Worksheet A. I have been through the mill working with VLOOKUP, MATCH, INDEX, LOOKU and other functions. Nothing seems to work. Thanks you all for any and all advice. : -- james081 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- james0810's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...fo&userid=3639 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread.php?threadid=56172 |

One way, assuming that the WorksheetB cells are contiguous:
In WorksheetA: D2: =IF(ISNA(MATCH(C2,WorksheetB!$A$1:$A$4,FALSE)),"", "Selected") Copy down to D284. In article , james0810 wrote: Good morning all. I have an Excel spreadsheet with 2 worksheets. I think you want the value (name) in the validation list to append
"/Selected" to the name in the list if that name has already been selected by another cell, so that "/Selected" will now appear in the list next to the name. to do that follow McGimpsey's instructions with this modified formula: =IF(ISNA(MATCH(C2,Sheet2!$A$1:$A$4,FALSE)),C2,CONC ATENATE(C2,"/Selected")) That will create a second list. Now name the new list and point your Data Validation cells to this new list. Mike F "JE McGimpsey" wrote in message ...
