Default Protect row

Hi Group

I am trying to prevent unauthorised editing of rows in an excel
spreadsheet. My intention is to have a column where individuals select
their initials from a list and once they have selected their initials
they are prompted to enter their password and the contents of the row
are locked i.e uneditable unless they (with the initials) enter their
password to edit or the administrator.

Can this be done in excel without writting a macro? If not what vb code
or macro can I use.

Default Protect row

You would need a macro, but even with a macro this is so easily defeated, it
isn't worth the effort.

Default Protect row

Hi Tom

Thanks for the response.

Whilst I do appreciate that if someone is determined or has the knowho
of editing the password protected row they could, I still don't know ho
to go about protecting the row. The people using the spreadsheet ar
responsible enough, I hope, to appreciate why a password has been used
So how do you do it in excel or using code!
