independent macros
I am wanting to make a macro independent of any specific workbooks. I would like the macro to be available for every workbook i start in Excel. Is this possible, if so how? -- XCESIV ------------------------------------------------------------------------ XCESIV's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=24271 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=544495 |

A macro must be contained in a workbook, and that workbook must
be open in order to execute the code. Most people put common procedures in their Personal.xls workbook, typically located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\XLStart. Files in that folder will automatically open when Excel starts. -- Cordially, Chip Pearson Microsoft MVP - Excel Pearson Software Consulting, LLC www.cpearson.com "XCESIV" wrote in message ... Does this mean that, after writing the Macro in an open workbook, we
have to save it as: Personal.xls? |

You will (probably) already have a WB called Personal.xls in your XLSTART
folder. All WBs in this folder are automatically opened when Excel starts. So you can either save the macro to this WB or save your new WB to this folder. Either way, you macro will be available to all. NickHK wrote in message ups.com... Does this mean that, after writing the Macro in an open workbook, we have to save it as: Personal.xls? |

I have done this now and it works. Thanks heaps. What about making this macro available to the workbooks that we have already setup. The way it looks the macro is only availbe to new workbooks we create from now on. thanks again -- XCESIV ------------------------------------------------------------------------ XCESIV's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=24271 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=544495 |

XCESIV,
These macros are available to all open WBs. Open a previously created WB and call a macro in your Personal.xls. NickHK "XCESIV" wrote in message ... I have done this now and it works. Thanks heaps.
