![]() Hi All I recently upgraded to Excel 2003 and have discovered much to my irritation that every time you open a new document, a new instance of Excel is opened. I should imagine that this hijacks a lot of the system resources? Is there a setting that I can change to stop this? ![]() I just want only one instance and I've searched on the net, but have found nothing. Normally Excel uses an open instance of Excel, if any, to launch a workbook,
so something has monkeyed with your settings. Try executing "Excel.exe /regserver" from Start-Run (no quotes, there is a space before the slash) to reset them. -- Jim "poppy" wrote in message ... | | Hi All | | I recently upgraded to Excel 2003 and have discovered much to my | irritation that every time you open a new document, a new instance of | Excel is opened. Are either of these options checked in Tools Options
General: Ignore Remote Requests View: Windows in Taskbar (gives the impression of multiple instances) Regards, Peter T "poppy" wrote in message ... ![]() Hi Peter I couldn't try out Jim's suggestion because I'm not allowed to fiddle with anything to do with the registry or anything with servers in it. I might make a booboo :) I asked one of our technical guys to try it out, but he never got back to me. I tried your suggestion though, I deselected this view. View: Windows in Taskbar Thanks to you both. Hi Poppy,
Thanks for the follow-up. From memory I think "Windows in Taskbar" is the default setup. This gives the impression of multiple instances, but it isn't! Regards, Peter T "poppy" wrote in message ...
