correction to the question

Hi Experts I need help...
I have 2 files
File 1 - Source File
File 2 - destination File
There are few columns common in the 2 files...like IdNumber, Name, Manager,
Dept, etc.

My question is when IDNumber is entered in the destination file all other
common fields should get populate automatically?

Please help me this is very urgent...

Thanks for any help

correction to the question

How about a vlookup?

Name range in source file The_Source

Then in cell B2 on destination file type
"=vlookup(A2,sourcefile.xls!The_Source,2,false )"

This will look at the ID number (presumed to be in cell A2) and look for it
in the source file and return the value in column 2. If no match you will
get an #N/A error.
