I know that in xl 97 getting a change event to work for a change in a data
validation list was downright flaky. I know that it works fine in xl 2002.
But what is the status of xl 2000? We are buying a company that uses 2000.
My programs expect this to work. There are probably other features I use,
which may not work in 2000. Is there a chart somewhere of 2000 and 2002
differences?

the data validation trigger works in xl2000.

I am not aware of any such list. You might look at what's new in vba help
for xl2002. The protection options for a worksheet were expanded.
