Access user security is a bit of a pain. You not only need to have the user
name and password, you need to be logged into the proper workgroup for the
database. If not logged into the workgroup the external data interface to
Access will connect as if a member of the Users user group (as set up within
the database). So the solutions are to make sure the table(s) you need are
listed in the Users group permissions, or to set up a workgroup file and have
the user who will be running the report log in to the workgroup.

how to link an Access Database from excel if it required a password to open

hey guys
with the following way i can open an access database which is not
password protected

dbpath = "C:\MistSat\mistdat.mdb"
Set dbnorthwind = OpenDatabase(dbpath)

Dim rseployees As DAO.Recordset
Set rseployees =
dbnorthwind.OpenRecordset("local_operations",dbOpe nTable)

but if the file is "password to open" how can i open it??
i should increase one paramater to (opendatabase)
i used the following phrase

Set dbnorthwind = OpenDatabase(dbpath, False, False, "microsft dao 3.6
; pwd=mypwd")
but an error appears "run time error 3170 could not find installable
ISAM"

and when i press debug the previous line is highlighted
so what is wrong?????????
thx in advance
