Does Excel Statistic Feature comes as a COM component or a library
 

Hi,

1) Does the Excel has a COM component that will behave as Statistical library?
2) Can this COM be used in Visual Basic 6.0 ?
3) Can it calculate the statistical functions and return the result, if data
is passed thru VB 6.0 ?

If there is a component available
4) Is there any development license for the same and what's the associated
cost?
5) Is there any license for distribution of the component and what's the
cost of it?

Does Excel Statistic Feature comes as a COM component or a library
 

There is an Add-In that comes with Excel with some limited statistical
functions, the Analysis ToolPak. Check under Tools... Add-Ins... and see if
it is listed (if not, get the install disk and update your installation to
include it) and if it is checked off on the list.

Other than that I have seen various 3rd party add-ins for Excel but have not
used any and cannot make any particular recommendations. A web search on
Excel Statistics should give you an idea of what is out there and what the
costs might be.

Since it is part of the Excel/Office package it would come with the same
license arrangement; i.e. if you purchase the Developer Edition of MS Office
you will have a license to distribute applications developed using Office
(and that would include the Analysis ToolPak). And that also means no extra
cost, other than the cost of purchasing the Developer Edition.
