Cell Link in a Drop Down - Where does it get its data?
I inherited an Excel workbook that has an issue I cannot crack. I have a drop
down box that allows the user to select a date week from a reference sheet. Next to that column that feeds the drop down, is a week number (1-52). The cell link on the drop down lists a cell to which to write the cell week number. My question is, if the drop down cell range is 'Data Page'!$B$3:$B$54 and the Cell Link is 'Data Page'!$H$2, how does the Cell Link know to put the week number which is located in 'Data Page'!$A$3:$A$54? The Cell Link seems to only specify the place where to put the data, not which data to put there. Thanks for your help! -- Dr. M |

Sounds like a dropdown from the forms toolbar. The dropdown returns the
ListIndex property. So it puts out a number between 1 and the number of entries in the list specifying which item is selected. In this case, that corresponds to the week number. so it isn't looking in A3 at all. It you sort your A3:B54 in random order, you will see that the week number won't be correct (except for a few coincidences perhaps) That is my guess anyway. -- Regards, Tom Ogilvy "Dr. M" wrote in message ...
