floating list box in Excel?
 

I received an Excel spreadsheet from an outside vendor that has very
cool functionality.
It has what I call a "floating listbox" that moves from cell to cell as
I select a different
cell in a column. It doesn't appear to be a normal ActiveX control so
I'm not sure how it
was implemented. The source data for the listbox is located on the
sheet as well but the
text color is set to white so it appears invisible. As I select a
value from the listbox the
underlying cell gets populated. I cannot edit the physical listbox our
look at its properties
so I'm not sure what it is or how it was implemented.

I can copy a cell (with an associated listbox pulldown) to a totally
empty cell in a brand new workbook and the empty cell now contains the
"listbox" functionality.

I've saved the workbook as an Excel 5.0/95 version and the listbox
functionality disappears
so it appears that this is Excel 97 and higher functionality.

If anyone would like the actual spreadsheet to look at please let me
know.
