Is there a way for the macro recorder to record mouse movements and clicks
outside of excel? --in order to copy information from other software
propducts and systems outside of the office environment?

No. The macro recorder only records Excel operations.

You can use our macro recorder, Workspace Macro Pro. You can get more
information and free trial download for Workspace Macro Pro from
http://www.tethyssolutions.com/macro-automation.htm

Many customers use it to record between Excel & other applications. It
also has some pre-defined templates for data transfer etc.

If you need more advanced solutions, try our Automation Software,
Automation Anywhere. You can get more information and free trial
download for Automation Anywhere from

Not with the Excel macro recorder. But you can use other macro
software like our Macro Scheduler:

http://www.mjtnet.com/macro_scheduler.htm

Macro Scheduler also includes VBScript and can therefore automate Excel
in the same way Excel VBA can as well as control external applications
and other Windows processes.
