How do I format a specific column of cells to have a limit aount of characters?
Can you give an example of how you want it to look?
"limshady411" wrote in message ... Hello, I'm trying to format a column of cells to a specific format (Right Click -- Format Cells -- Custom). I'm just a little confused about the syntax. Is there a way I can make a cell like so: Can only be 6 characters, and if the data is out less than 6, it should append a space for each character to get to 6. Thanks for responding Barb. Column A (6 characters max, place space as a filler if you don't reach 6) abc(space1)(space2)(space3) My goal is to format this worksheet so that when I save as a txt file, each row in the worksheet will be "one string" of data formated a specific way based on the format of the columns of each cell. I hope this makes sense :) Thanks! -- limshady411 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ limshady411's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=28711 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=493993 |
