How can I read & write in a Vlookup cell (same as editing an MS Access record)?
First, I need to be able to update comments when I retrieve a Vlookup query.
Secondly, when I get a record, I want to be able to update it and save my
updates somewhere as history.

You really can't do what it is you are wanting. Formulas can only return
values, they can not update the values they are referencing. If I understand
you correctly you want the formula to update the constants in the list of
records you are looking up into. That would form a circular reference.
