Fred

Duplicate values

Each quarter I receive two lists of data containing information concerning
how much money my shops have taken and when and another list detailing the
amount taken to the bank and when.

I will then have to compare the two lists to ensure the amount taken matches
the amount banked which it quite often dosn't.

Each list has the store number a date and an amount.

Is it possible to automatically look through the two amount columns and
match up those where the store number and the amount are the same and then
align these duplicate values , thus leaving me just those with different
values to manually wade through.

Thanks

Hi Fred,

See Chip Pearson's duplicate page for a varirty of techniques:

See particularly the sections, at the foot of the page, entitled:

Extracting Values Common To Two Lists

and

Extracting Values On One List And Not Another

You may need to sort the data on *STORE name* and then on the other
column heads-Amount and Date
