Chart looks good on Excel, appalling on OpenOffice.org's spreadsheet

Hi.

I have an excel file that displays really well on Excel (on my mac)

But I have open office on my pc and the graphs look completely wrong

I have a link to the file below.

http://www.geocities.com/eye7clinic/glasses.xls

Please can someone help me make it look right on openoffice.

Why not ask in the OpenOffice newsgroups?

How does the workbook look in Excel on a PC? Probably pretty good, right?

it looks perfect on the pc - used the free microsoft excel viewer. But
can't afford to buy another copy of MS office at the mo.

I don't know of any openoffice newsgroups

thanks

Sorry, I was being obnoxious. I don't know of any such groups, though they
must exist. Google may help. I've only used OO for about a half hour one
time. Took much longer to download, install, and uninstall than I had the
patience for testing. This was a version or two ago, and it was pretty
amateurish at the time. I've heard it's made great strides, but I've also
heard it still can't hold a candle to Excel.

The only dedicated NTTP newsgroup that I see on my news server is
alt.pl.comp.os.linux.openoffice
but it does not seem to involve posts in English. The OP could try
comp.apps.spreadsheets
Or, the Open Office web page
http://support.openoffice.org/index.html
does indicate some mailing lists and a discussion site that the OP could
join.

Since I downloaded it for numerical comparisons, I haven't discarded OO
as quickly as you did, but I agree that even the OO 2.0 interface is
nowhere near as friendly as Excel.

This is a generic newsgroup:
comp.apps.spreadsheets

Not as much traffic as in the microsoft.public.excel.* newsgroups, though.

Yo!
Install openoffice.org on the mac too. It is free, and during the
installation you can tell it not to associate with microsoft office format
files (not to open them by default). If you need to send an OO doccument to
someone else that is laisy enough not to install OO, send it as .pdf file.
One more thingy: after installing OO, if you do not use only english, open
writer, click Files\wizards\Install new dictionaries and install the
dictionary you need.
