Security discussion - how to effectively distribute an Excel file

Hello!
I would enjoy input into how people effectively distribute an Excel
file to clients, that they can use without too much trouble.

Here's my situation:

I have an Excel file I've coded some macros for. I will be delivering
it to my client tomorrow, for their review. They run Excel 2003, and I
would like to set something up that they can use without too much
hassle. Mainly, I would like to avoid having to reduce their security
settings to use the file.

Problem is, the file is a timesheet. Each user makes a copy of it, and
then enters time information into it. My understanding of digital
signatures has it that as soon as a user saves the file (with their
entered time data), the digital signature will be removed, since I am
no longer the only person to have worked on the file. And (I believe)
that afterwards, they will be getting the security prompt once again,
'till the end of time.

How is this type of situation dealt with? Obviously, a time sheet is
not useful as a read-only file; users *have* to enter data and save it.

How do the gurus deal with this type of situation?

Regards,
Remi.

Hi

I don't know if this will help your situation, but look at Excel Free and
Excel to EXE at this site.

You can open your files with macros and bypass the security notice.

Thanks Ken;
I may be able to make use of Excel Free.

I would still like to hear how others deal with this issue. How do you
distribute Excel files to clients, without requiring them to reduce
their Office security levels? Is Excel Free a commonly used solution
for this issue?

Regards,
Remi.

Beside the question posted above about Excel Fre.....

I've been looking for a add-in that only allows my Excel app to b
registered on one computer with a keycode. If you try to move it t
another, it doesn't work and asks for a new keycode. I found a
active-x control called "SoftProtector Activation Component". Anyon
used it or found something else similar that they can recommend?

Thanks
