Excel Search Filter
Hi, I hope someone can help. I have a list of 1,500 products in an Excel worksheet. If a custome rings up and asks for a certain product (eg ZWF1242) I have to scrol down the whole list to find the product and it's corresponding info. It takes ages and is annoying. Is it possible (using VB or otherwise) to create a search facility tha allows me to type the beginning part of the code (eg ZW) and as I a typing the list of 1,500 products automatically reduces to all th relevant products starting the with the same numbers or letters. Obviously as more of the product code is typed in, fewer matchin results are shown. I would like the filtering to be done Is this possible to do? If so, how, my knowledge of VB is -very limited! If anyone knows, please contact me by replying here or emailing me a . Thank you very much. Barnaby ,
There is no built-in functionality to do that, but you could program a userform that behaved that way. HTH, Bernie MS Excel MVP "barnabyp" wrote in message ... Hi, I hope someone can help. Do your product codes have similiar prefixes that can be grouped? -- comotoman ------------------------------------------------------------------------ comotoman's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=27292 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=468868 |

Yeah, I know it's more complex than a standard Excel tool. The proble is I have no idea how to write the program to do it. I have trie google for something similar, but I have had no luck. Certain product codes do have similar prefixes. For example, there ma be 400 starting with Z. This can then be broken down further t starting with ZF, ZL, ZD, ZE. Then these go more and more unique a the you add more of the product code. Then there are those that star ER, ED...and so on. Does anyone know where I might start or if there is an existing progra available to help me? Thanks so much for your help.
