Wondering if....
 

I'm trying to program an Excel spread sheet so that if there is an "X"
in a certain box, then it changes the font in the other cells to
strikethrough. Any help appreciated.

Select the cells that you want to have the strikethrough
Choose FormatConditional Formatting
From the first dropdown, choose Formula Is
In the formula box, type: =$A$1="X"
using your cell reference, instead of A1
Click the Format button, and on the Font tab, add a check mark to
Strikethrough
Click OK, click OK
