Tools | References file type
 

When I try to add a workbook to the Tools | References list, I get an error
saying "wrong file type." What file types can be added?

Why are you trying to add a workbook. All open (saved) workbooks should be
there as VBA projects.

The tutorial that I am following contains the following statement:

....Remember that to use the early binding code, the client project must
include a reference (Tools | References.) to the Class Provider.xls file.

Any ideas?

I have just tried adding a workbook, type xls, and it worked fine.

I went to ToolsReferencesBrowse, changed the file type to xls and found
the file. When loaded, it used the project name.
