IF or LOOKUP

Hello,

I need to set up a formulae that automatically detects whether a numbe
should be added to a field. E.g if date = **/**/**** then 88 is place
in field A1

Im guessing an if statement of some kind, not sure whether i would b
better using a lookup table as there are other dates which carr
different values.

Many Thank

IF or LOOKUP

If there are a few, then VLOOKUP would be the best bet IMO.
