i have no experience with vb or programming, but i need to creat user-friendly front-ends for some models. example: i need to create a multiple selection box (e.g. can choose severa elements out of the box) and have excel run calculations on thos elements only. how should i get started? what are some good resources? thanks -- dream ----------------------------------------------------------------------- dreamz's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...fo&userid=2646 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread.php?threadid=39729 |

I have learned quite a bit from the Visual Basic for Dummies book, maybe worth the investment. The textbox is what allows the user to type in their selection. You may want to use a combo box or list box. Best of luck to you. -- postlp60 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ postlp60's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=25532 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=397294 |

yes, it is a listbox. the multi-select property is exactly what needed, but where do i go from here? i'm trying to create a userform so that a user can select multipl entries in the listbox and click a button, which then calculates th results for the entries that were selected. the entries are names, and the results are some calculations of thei respective data elements. e.g. name value 1 value 2 a 1 3 b 2 1 c 4 5 so if a user chooses a and c, i want it to calculate the product o value 1 and value 2 and show that in another sheet -- dream ----------------------------------------------------------------------- dreamz's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...fo&userid=2646 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread.php?threadid=39729 |

maybe that's not possible. but i have another idea. i want to select names in the listbox, which will then copy the entir row of data beginning with that name. this procedure will copy all o those rows and paste them into another sheet. i can then execute another procedure that will calculate using this ne data set. is that possible -- dream ----------------------------------------------------------------------- dreamz's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...fo&userid=2646 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread.php?threadid=39729 |
