Validation List - Word and Numeric Association
I'm having a little difficult figuring out how to implement a validatio list in a worksheet I am developing. I have a cell that should have a validation or drop-down list with onl 5 choices. For example, the validation list would display words (ie Premium, Elite, Superior, etc.), but once the word is selected it ha to correspond to a static numeric percentage that is used for calculation at other locations in the spreadsheet. The word still needs to appear in the cell, however, the static numeri percentage associated with it's partner word must be th hidden/background result when it's partner word is selected. The list consists of the following and in two columns Static Loss Pools ============ Premium 0.69% Elite 1.18% Superior 1.67% Preferred 2.72% Classic 4.09% Thanks in advance for any guidance -- C.M. Not sure what "hidden/background" means, but if the validation cell is in A1
and the 5 X 2 table you gave in your example is named "pool": Place in another cell: =VLOOKUP(A1,pools,2,FALSE) Name this array "pool": Premium 0.69% Elite 1.18% Superior 1.67% Preferred 2.72% Classic 4.09% Don Pistulka "C.M. This example works if the Static Pool Name (ie. Premium, Elite, etc.) is in one column (A1) and it's corresponding Static Pool Percentage (ie. 0.69%, 1.18%, etc.) is in column B1?, correct? -- C.M.
