hi there

i have data which is either in tolerance, or out of tolerance. i need
the data to be black in tolerance and red out of tolerance. in
tolerance is 140.50 to 145.00 any thing else is out of tolerance.

Check Data-Data Validation.

Here you can have any condition expressable in XL formulas trigger a
cell format.

You want conditional formatting

Look up 'Highlight cells that meet specific conditions' in the Answer
wizard in help
