macro security
 

can you help me with macro security?

i created an app in excel on my pc. i created a certificate on my pc. i
copied my app to the client's site. i have some gpo's in place to disable
the macro menu item and the protection menu item.

when i set the macro security to medium, i get the enable/disable macros
dialog. it shows my name but says the publisher has not been authenticated.

1. how do i get my certificate authenticated, because this message pops up
every time the spreadsheet is opened? the always trust macros option is
grayed out.

i can set security to low via gpo, but that is not recommended.

any help appreciated.

Strange, I just went through the same process to test this and the Always
Trust Macros from this source option was available. An alternative is that
you could go to Tools, Options, Security, Macro Security, Trusted Sources
and set Trust all installed add-ins to on, then create your app as an addin.

thanks for checking, robin. it may have something to do with a gpo, i'm not
sure. i do have the gpo set to trust all add-ins and templates and access to
visual basic project. the users with the grayed out option have protection
and macro menu options disabled via gpo. i didn't want the users being able
to change things.
