Hi Everyone,

I was given a Floppy Disk with a File Created with Excel 97 Using Office
2000.
The Filename is One%20p6.xls, when I Try and Open it ( Scan for Viruses
was Clean ) the Message "File Format is Not Valid" Appears.
I have Done a Google Search and Found that One Possibility could be that
it is a Template ( xlt File Extension ) File, although it Shows a .xls
File Extension. Is there ANY Way that I can Open it Or will I Need to
get Another Copy.
Why does Excel Save with a Percentage in the Filename, I have Heard of
this Before But have Never Experienced it Myself.

I am Using Windows XP and Excel 10.

Generally Excel will open a file irrespective of the file extension if the
file is of a format that Excel can recognise. I think the file must be
dodgy.

Hi Paul

Never ever open an Excel file from a floppy. Copy it to your hard drive
before doing anything with it.

I Spoke to the Guy Yesterday and it Appears that he has a % ( Percentage
) inserted into MANY of the Files that he Saves. What is this All about.

should be Copied onto the Hard Drive
Before doing Anything with it.
