Words Equal Numbers Question
 

Is there any way to enter a word in one cell and have it equal a numbe
in another cell? I am creating a bid sheet for my work and I am tryin
to have equipment names in one column and have it automatically put th
price in the next column

Yes, but you need to define the lookup table that translates the name into a
number. VLOOKUP function will accept text strings so you could have a table
of names and related price(s) that when you enter a name it supplies the
price. Take a look at the VLOOKUP function in Excel help
