Default How can I delete a macro in excel?

I had created a button in excel, which created a macro. I decided not to
keep the button so I deleted it, assuming that the macro would be deleted as
well. I saved the file and closed it. However, on reopening it, I received
an error message because my security level is set so that macros will not
run. I do not want to change the security level, so I went to
Tools--Macros--Macros (or Alt-F8) to delete the macro. The macro is there
but it will not let me delete nor edit it. These options are not highlighted
for me to choose? How can I get rid of this macro? The button the macro was
created for is already gone, and I cannot redo the spreadsheet. Any advice?

Thanks,
Katzy
