Default Read Excel Spreadsheet Via VB.Net

I'm having some trouble figuring out how to do this. It seems like it should
be very simple. I want to read an excel spreadsheet from within my vb.net
app. What is the prefered method for doing this? I can't wait for anything
like VS 2005, I need to get this going right away. I'm not so much excited by
the coolest way to do it. I'd prefer the "simplest" or "best supported"
method.

Thanks for any guidance you all can provide.

What's wrong with this question, that nobody has or wants to give an answer?
