Excel opens all files in My Documents folder
 

all the time.

once it finishes, go into tools=General tab and remove any entry in
Alternate Startup File Location

or go to the windows start menu and select Run

enter

Excel.exe /s

which opens excel in safe mode. Then make the change, and close.
