Time Out
Hi,
I have a quite large sheet that has seven worksheets which tracks expenditure vs budget. Apart from the worksheet that the end user can see, all the other six sheets are password protected and the workbook is password protected. People authorised to update the source data have to enter a password via an InputBox using VBA that unprotects the various sheets and the workbook. On saving, the BeforeSave event reprotects the sheets and workbook. My question is, is there a way to reprotect or exit the file if no data is entered or the mouse is not moved for a given time to prevent anyone seeing the unprotected sheets if the authorised user walks away and leaves the normally hidden sheets visible? I know this will rely on Macros being enabled and all that entails but this is not an issue in this case. TIA, Regards, Alan. |

A slightly different approach is to leave the sheets protected, with unlocked
"Input Cells" where the user enters data followed by clicking on a cmd button. If the user has entered a correct login password, the cmd button action will unprotect, transfer the data to your "data" sheets, then protect again. Another way is to use UserForms for inputting or editing data. Clicking an OK button will then do the same: check the password, unlock the data sheet, post the data and reprotect.
